Sophie Turner Says Playing Lovers with Kit Harington After ‘Game of Thrones’ Was “Really Weird”

Sophie Turner is reuniting with her former Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harington — but in a way fans might not expect. The two actors, who portrayed half-siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow for eight seasons on HBO’s epic fantasy series, are starring opposite each other as romantic leads in the upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Turner opened up about the experience, admitting, “It’s really weird for all of us,” when describing the shift from on-screen siblings to lovers. Set during the 15th-century War of the Roses — the same historical conflict that inspired Game of ThronesThe Dreadful follows Turner’s character Anne, a solitary woman whose life is upended by a figure from her past, played by Harington.

Despite the awkwardness, Turner herself recommended Harington for the role, stating that he was essential to the film’s dynamic. Directed by Natasha Kermani (Lucky, Abraham’s Boys), The Dreadful also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Jonathan Howard.

Fans familiar with the morally complex relationships of Game of Thrones may not be too surprised by the new pairing, but Turner still felt the need to warn longtime viewers: “Sorry, guys.”
