“It’s on us, guys. Literally, we’re the Avengers now.” Actor Mark Ruffalo delivered a powerful speech at the “No Kings” protest in New York City on June 14, 2025, standing in opposition to former President Donald Trump’s leadership and celebrating the values of democracy and freedom.

💥 Mark Ruffalo Speaks Out at ‘No Kings’ Rally in Bryant Park

During a massive demonstration in Bryant Park — one of over 2,000 “No Kings” protests held across the U.S. and worldwide — the Avengers: Endgame star compared the protestors to Marvel’s iconic superhero team.

“Being brave for what we hold dear — our freedoms, our democracy, and each other — it’s on us,” Ruffalo declared. “We’re the Avengers now. No one’s gonna come and save us.”

The demonstration coincided with Trump’s $45 million military parade in Washington, D.C., celebrating both the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and his 79th birthday — a move Ruffalo described as a display of “kingly dictatorship.”

🕊️ A Call for Unity, Peace, and Resistance

The 13 Going on 30 and Spotlight actor emphasized the importance of community, compassion, and standing up for human rights.

“What’s dear to me is peace, safety, my family, friends, and all the beautiful people of this country,” Ruffalo said. “We weren’t founded to be ruled by kings, dictators, or corrupt CEOs.”

He condemned Trump’s current administration, criticizing its alignment with authoritarian leaders like Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Benjamin Netanyahu, and labeled them a “court of billionaires, crackpots, and ICE brigades.”

The “No Kings” protests emerged in response to aggressive immigration policies, ICE raids, and rising fears over eroding civil liberties under Trump’s second term. Ruffalo passionately defended the right to a fair trial and criticized recent actions as undemocratic and dangerous.

“You can’t be arrested and tossed into a dungeon or detention center without justice. We don’t f— with that,” he said.

Other celebrities who joined the protests included Susan Sarandon, Kerry Washington, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Glenn Close, Ayo Edebiri, Ilana Glazer, and Emily Osment.

🗽 A New Wave of Patriotism

Ruffalo concluded by comparing the protests to the Boston Tea Party and early American resistance.

“While Trump celebrates with tanks and jets, we gather in the true spirit of the founding fathers. We are patriots, and we are lovers of democracy.”
